Sometimes, things in their lives seemed positively normal. She would cook, and clean, and look after Satoshi. She would get kisses from Hanzo, and do all the things a normal married couple would do. Even Kuai Liang felt like a regular tennant within her home, if she ignored the growing feelings she had for the man.

It was strange how the smallest comment could shatter that illusion.

"I've never tried strawberries before."

She stopped chopping the fruit in question to look at Kuai, who was awkwardly gazing at the strawberries on the board.

"Really? Not even strawberry flavoured ice cream?"

Kuai shook his head, "No, most foods were considered a luxury, and we were not permitted such things."

"Oh. I see." It was a small reminder that unlike herself and Hanzo, Kuai's upbringing had been anything but normal. She picked up a slice between her fingers. "Here, have a taste!"

For some reason, instead of waiting for him to take the strawberry for himself, she held it up to his mouth. She watched as he opened his mouth, slowly, like he was unsure of the action. It wasn't until after the strawberry had passed his lips that she realised what she'd done. How intimate the gesture had been.

She pulled her hand back, feeling heat blossom in her cheeks.

What is wrong with me? She could feel her heart beating out of her chest. She had to nip whatever this was in the bud now before it became dangerous. She had a husband, who she loved very much. What she was feeling had to be a passing crush, nothing more.

A passing crush. So why, when Kuai's eyes widened in wonder and awe, did it feel like her heart was going to beat out of her chest? Then the small smile that followed after, so natural despite how rare it was. She wondered what it would feel like to kiss him.

"That's really good," Kuai chipperly announced. Harumi took a sharp breath, brought back to reality. This didn't go unnoticed by Kuai, "Are you okay, Harumi-San?"

"I-" She paused. "Yes, I'm fine, thank you Kuai Liang."

Harumi couldn't tell him the truth. Not yet anyway. Both herself and Hanzo had always been open about their feelings. She needed to be honest with him, assure him that she loved him, but she needed guidance and she knew he would offer her it. I am lucky to have a husband so understanding.

She suddenly realised Kuai had moved slightly. He was now leaning around her. At first she wasn't sure what he was doing. Until she noticed his hand was outstretched and slowly making a beeline for the cut strawberries. She softly gasped and reached to bat his hand away.

"Ow," he whined pulling his hand back.

"That's what you get when you try to take advantage of me being distracted," She scolded. Kuai pouted at her, and she had to stop herself from giggling. He looked so adorable, how could anyone ever say no to that cute face? She picked up an uncut strawberry, and held it out to him. "Here."

The way Kuai beamed at her made all those feelings bubble back to the surface. It was magical seeing someone usually so sad being so happy over such a small thing. He really did look so handsome when he smiled. I guess I need to find more ways to make him smile then, don't I?

She really needed to talk to Hanzo.
