Settling down at his desk, Kuai stared at the pile of paperwork that was long over due. He took a sip of tea, setting it down before cracking his knuckles. He would get through this work, even if it took him all night. He took his pen, and started scribbling on the first piece.
A loud “fwoosh” to his side took him by surprise. He jumped a mile, the pen jerking across the paper and leaving an ugly trail of ink across him. His head snapped to where the offending sound was, only for his frustration to be replaced with concerned when he saw what had made the noise.
Hanzo was stood in his room, shaking and covered in blood.
“Hanzo?” Kuai questioned, all but leaping from his seat and approaching the man. Hanzo was clutching his side tightly.
Hanzo looked at Kuai, blinking like he was confused before he muttered “Kuai Liang? Why are you here?”
Kuai stared at him for a solid minute, before glancing around the room. “Because this is my room?”
Hanzo blinked a few times, before he surveyed his surroundings. “Oh. So it is.” He turned back to Kuai again. “Sorry, this is not where I was aiming for.”
Hanzo took a step forward, stumbling slightly. Kuai darted forward to catch him. He helped Hanzo brace against himself, before slowly walking him to his bed. As he settled him down, Kuai took a glance at where Hanzo was clutching. He could see blood seeping through Hanzo’s fingers.
“Shirt off,” Kuai ordered, gently moving Hanzo’s hand away and starting to pull up the offending clothing.
“Forward as always,” Hanzo teased. Kuai shot him a glare while Hanzo looked at him with a sly smirk. If Hanzo was making jokes it either meant that the injury wasn’t as bad as it looked or he was delusional from blood loss. Kuai hoped it was the former.
“What happened?” Kuai elected to ignore it for now, managing to get Hanzo’s top off. He looked down at the wound, it looked like a scratch from some kind of animal, or maybe an oni or demon of some kind?
“Got a report about suspicious activity in the Netherrealm,” He explained. His ability to explain what had happened in a coherent manor was encouraging. Kuai lent down to get a better look at the wound. “As loathe as I am to admit it, I got ambushed by a group of oni.”
Kuai hummed, his suspicions confirmed. The wound was deep, but thankfully not that deep. It would need stitches, but overall was a fairly superficial wound. He took a quick glance at the rest of Hanzo’s torso. There were a few marks that would definitely bruise, and a few grazes, and another much smaller gash on his forehead but otherwise it seemed he’d come out of the encounter as well as he could.
“If you think this is bad, you should see them,” Hanzo dead panned, causing Kuai to snort and roll his eyes. Kuai pushed himself away so he could go and get the first aid kit he kept in the bathroom for situations just like this.
“You got lucky, I think,” Kuai claimed as he started walking off. “I am going to have to stitch up that one on your side however.”
“Do what you must,” Hanzo confirmed.
Kuai nodded, slipping into his bathroom and grabbing the kit quickly as he could. He took a second to fill a small bowl with water, grabbing a wash cloth before he made his way back to his room. Hanzo was thankfully still sitting up, though leaning back bracing himself with his arms. Kuai placed the supplies on his bedside cabinet, his first task would be slipping on a pair of gloves.
“You know, one day you’re going to have to rely on an actual medical professional, right?” Kuai asked while slipping the gloves on, feeling weirdly satisfied by the way they snapped as he did. “One of these days, you’re going to be injured beyond my abilities.”
“I genuinely was aiming for the Shirai Ryu’s infirmary this time,” Hanzo tried to defend himself. If he was telling the truth, he missed the infirmary by an extremely large margin. It was almost a miracle that he “accidentally” appeared in Kuai’s room rather than somewhere more dangerous. He wet the cloth in the bowl, before bending down to place it against the wound. “Besides, why would I miss an excuse to have your hands on my body?” Hanzo questioned in a smug tone.
Kuai gave a somewhat frustrated huff, “Honey, you don’t need to almost get yourself killed just to get me to touch you.” Kuai wiped the blood away from the wound, causing Hanzo to hiss. “You can just ask.”
Silence settled between them as Kuai began his work. His first mission was to clean the wound thoroughly. As he cleared away the dried blood and blood still seeping through, he confirmed it wasn’t a serious wound. It would need rest to heal, and Kuai was more than prepared to force Hanzo to do so if he needed. With the blood cleared, he grabbed the needle and medical thread. He wasn’t the best at giving stitches, and he was more used to performing the action on himself as opposed to someone else. As he pierced the skin with the needle, he willed his hands to stop shaking.
He tried to be as quick as he could, while ensuring the stitching was even and closed the entire wound. He fixed the stitching, pulling away to grab some medical alcohol and pouring it onto the cloth. He cleaned the newly fixed up wound once again, before diving back into the supplies to find padding and gauze.
Gently placing the padding against the wound, he looked up to Hanzo and asked “could you hold this?” Hanzo shifted his weight, reaching to do as he was requested. Kuai began to gently wrap the gauze around Hanzo’s midsection, attempting to not wrap too tightly and aggravate the bruises. “Is that too tight?”
“Not at all.”
Satisfied with that, Kuai encouraged Hanzo to let go, while he put the finishing touches to it. He finally pulled away, happy that the worst of Hanzo’s wounds was taken care of at least. His eyes flicked to the gash on Hanzo’s head. It wasn’t deep enough to need stitches, but Kuai would feel better about if it was bandaged as well.
He reached once more for the wash cloth, rinsing it out, and bringing it to Hanzo’s face. Most of the blood was dry, and a little bit of scrubbing removed it. He smirked to himself, thoughts on how he could get his own back with a little teasing of his own came to mind. As he removed the wash cloth, he pulled back, placing his hand under his chin and looking at Hanzo thoughtfully.
“Hm, who would have thought there would be such a handsome face underneath all that blood?”
Hanzo gave a bark of a laugh, looking at Kuai in disbelief. “Oh if I wasn’t injured right now, I’d get you for that.”
It was Kuai’s turn to grin now. As he retrieved the padding and gauze again, he walked over to his lover. He settled to straddle Hanzo’s lap, however careful to make sure it was the bed taking the majority of his weight.
He brushed his thumb again Hanzo’s cheek as he purred “Oh please, we both know I’d enjoy anything you could throw at me.” He pressed a kiss to Hanzo’s lips, before turning his attention to the wound. He took his time, carefully padding and wrapping the gauze around Hanzo’s head.
Soon he was content that he’d given Hanzo the best level of care he could. While reluctant to leave this position, he relented, moving off and finally slipping the gloves off and discarding them in the bin. He sighed, deciding he could put his supplies away in the morning. Moving back to Hanzo’s side, he helped manoeuvre the other man to more comfortably lay back on the bed. Once sure Hanzo was settled, Kuai hastily threw off his shirt, crawling onto the mattress and burying his head into Hanzo’s neck.
“Thank you for your help,” Hanzo whispered softly, planting a kiss on Kuai’s forehead. “You truly are my guardian angel.”
Kuai giggled contently at the compliment, listening as Hanzo’s breathing slowed and he fell asleep beside him. Kuai slowly closed his eyes, happy to drift to sleep himself, until a thought came to his mind that caused his eyes to shoot open. He looked over to his desk, and the paperwork that sat abandoned atop of it. Far too comfortable to move and sort it out now, he just shook his head and snuggled close to Hanzo.
“I’m never going to finish that fucking paper work, am I?”
