While he is being tortured by them for his sins, the Elder Goddess, Cetrion, visits and blesses Kuai with ice powers. With his new found powers, he finds himself suddenly at the top of the cult, going from despised to adored within the space of a few hours. However Kuai quickly finds his new position as essentially a messiah is driving him to a breakdown, when even in his new position, he still feels like he is without power.

When a journalist investing the cult named Hanzo Hasashi joins in order to write a peice exposing the cults practises, he quickly realises that Kuai needs help, not worship. But given he is the only one who seems to be able to see this, Hanzo quickly takes it upon himself to be the one to save Kuai Liang from himself.
